What's in season

What's ready right now

Our greenhouse changes with the season, so here's what's coming ready through the Flathead growing year. Come see what's blooming now, or call ahead in the quieter months and we'll tell you what's on the benches.

Now showing

Summer in the greenhouse — geraniums and fuchsias are in full bloom.

Through the year

The greenhouse changes with the calendar. Here's the general rhythm of the Flathead Valley growing year — the highlighted card is where we are now.

Spring

April–June

The busy season. Geraniums and fuchsias come into full color, hanging baskets are made up and ready, and vegetable and herb starts are sized to go in once frost risk passes — usually after late May. The widest selection of the year.

Summer

June–August Now

Peak bloom. Annuals for instant color, perennials to fill in beds, and plenty of geraniums and fuchsias still going strong. A good time for landscaping projects and replacing anything a late frost took.

Fall

September–October

Cooler-season color, trees and shrubs (a great time to plant them while the soil is still warm), and the last of the season’s baskets. A good window to plan next year’s beds.

Winter

November–March

Quieter. We scale back, but it’s a fine time to talk landscaping plans for spring or ask about overwintering your geraniums. Call ahead before visiting.

A note on timing

A note on timing

Montana's season is short and frost has the final say, so dates shift a little year to year. When in doubt about whether it's safe to plant something out, read our guide or just ask us — that's exactly the kind of thing we keep an eye on.
