If you want raspberries that shrug off a Montana winter, Boyne is the one. It was bred for cold, northern climates and is one of the most dependable summer-bearing reds you can grow here, producing heavy crops of sweet, deep-red berries in midsummer on last year's canes. It suckers freely to fill a row, so give it room and a simple trellis or support. Full sun, even water while fruiting, and a yearly pruning of the spent canes keep it productive for many seasons. A great choice for fresh eating, jam, and the freezer.
