Ivy geraniums trail instead of stand up, which makes Contessa Burgundy a natural for hanging baskets, window boxes, and the edges of tall pots. The glossy, ivy-shaped leaves spill over the sides and the deep burgundy flowers keep coming all season. It appreciates a little relief from the hottest afternoon sun here in the valley — morning sun with afternoon shade is ideal — and even, moderate water. Pair it with upright zonals for a basket that has both height and spill.
