Catmint (Nepeta)
Walker's Low Catmint
A tough, long-blooming cloud of lavender-blue flowers that pollinators love and deer leave alone.
- Sunlight: full sun
- Water: low
- Season: Blooms late spring into summer; hardy perennial
- Price: $10–$16
Walker's Low is one of those perennials we recommend constantly because it just works. It forms a soft, billowing mound of gray-green foliage topped with a long-lasting haze of lavender-blue flowers from late spring into summer, and a quick shearing after the first flush brings on a second. It's genuinely hardy here, drought-tolerant once established, and largely ignored by deer and rabbits — while bees and butterflies can't get enough of it. Give it full sun and well-drained soil and it asks for almost nothing in return.
