Early Girl Tomato — Indeterminate slicing tomato at Wild Geese Gardens

Indeterminate slicing tomato

Early Girl Tomato

Out of season

A dependable early slicer that beats Montana's short season with full-size fruit in about 50–60 days.

  • Sunlight: full sun
  • Water: moderate
  • Season: Plant out late May; harvest mid-to-late summer
  • Price: $4–$7

Early Girl earns its spot in valley gardens every year. It sets full-size, flavorful slicing tomatoes in roughly 50 to 60 days from transplant — early enough that you're eating fresh tomatoes well before the first fall frost threatens. It's an indeterminate, so it keeps producing all season; give it a cage or stake, full sun, and even water to avoid cracking and blossom-end rot. Set it out after our last hard frost in late May, and pinch the lowest suckers to keep airflow up.
