Sub-Arctic Plenty Tomato

Out of season

One of the earliest, most cold-tolerant tomatoes there is — bred for exactly our kind of summer.

  • Sunlight: full sun
  • Water: moderate
  • Season: Plant out late May; very early harvest
  • Price: $4–$7

If any tomato was made for Montana, it's this one. Sub-Arctic Plenty was bred for short, cool seasons: it sets clusters of small-to-medium red fruit even when nights stay cool, and it ripens earlier than almost anything else on the bench. It's a compact determinate, so it stays manageable and produces its crop over a concentrated window — great for an early harvest or for tucking into a smaller garden. Full sun, steady water, and an after-frost planting in late May are all it asks.
